Privacy Policy

The data controller is Omar Hernández Bastos, an individual, reachable at [email protected]. There is no company behind this site: it is a personal editorial project funded by display advertising.

We collect the minimum data needed to operate the site:

• Email subscriptions: email address, preferred language, frequency (breaking/daily/weekly) and notification preferences. Only if you voluntarily subscribe.
• Anonymous technical data: device type, browser, language, approximate country by IP, pages visited. We use aggregate analytics without individual profiling.
• Cookies: see section 6.
• We do not collect: name, physical address, phone, payment data, or sensitive health information.

We use your email exclusively to send you the alerts you subscribed to. We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to third parties for commercial purposes. Anonymous technical data is used to improve the site and measure aggregate audience.

We process your data based on your explicit consent (Art. 6.1.a GDPR) when you subscribe, and on our legitimate interest (Art. 6.1.f) to maintain basic site security and operations.

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on our own server at Hetzner (Germany, EU). We share minimal data with the following providers:

• Resend (email delivery) — receives your address and the email content.
• Cloudflare (CDN and DDoS protection) — receives your IP when you visit the site.
• Google AdSense (advertising) — uses cookies per its own policy, only if you accept.

We use the following cookies:

• Essential (always on): hanta-locale (language), hanta-cookie-consent (your cookie decision).
• Advertising (opt-in): Google AdSense cookies to show relevant ads. Activated only if you accept in the banner.
• Analytics (opt-in): only enabled with your consent; in that case we use aggregate metrics with no personal identification.

Under GDPR and equivalent laws you have the right to: access, rectify, erase, port, restrict, or object to the processing of your data. Exercise them by writing to [email protected]. You can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Unsubscribing is immediate and free: use the link at the bottom of any email or visit /api/unsubscribe/[token].

We keep your email while you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we mark your record as inactive for 90 days (to prevent accidental reuse) and then permanently delete it.

The site is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has subscribed, write to us and we will remove their record.

We may update this policy. If changes are material, we will announce them on the homepage and notify subscribers by email.
